MBCP Psychotherapy (Mindfulness Based Core Process Psychotherapy)
This page talks about MBCP Psychotherapy, how it works and how it can help.
“healing is a wholeness” says Maura Sills, Founder of Mindfulness Based Core Process Psychotherapy (MBCPP).
MBCP psychotherapy offers a safe space to relate one-to-one, in confidence; to have someone listen to the whole of your situation, to develop trust with. MBCPP intends to help you to rediscover your inherent health and wisdom – your inner nature – that can get so obscured by the challenges and conditions of life. This perspective on experience comes from Buddhist Psychology and is informed by spiritual awareness practice (or, mindfulness).

How MBCPP works
MBCPP works through a ‘joint process’, which means it relies on us working together while we make sense of your experience, the particular challenges you are coping with, and what may help. I work in an organic and creative way, so each person’s therapeutic journey will be unique to them. Mindfulness Based Core Process Psychotherapy offers a calm space to slow down and be present to your life. I’m a warm and respectful practitioner who will welcome you as you are. I offer reliability, compassion and consistency in the therapeutic relationship, which can help you to feel accepted and supported to meet situations arising in your life. MBCPP is more experiential than analytical; we trust our experience as it is, with curiosity, allowing the possibility of our wellbeing and clarity to emerge.
What to expect?
Once trust is established, the safe space of psychotherapy can become a place to explore many aspects of life, for example: home or work, relationships, mental health and wellbeing. Read more about my experience on: this page: Qualifications & Experience and how we get started on: this page: Practicalities & starting therapy
In a session, we may gently explore your experience in the present moment to understand your ‘direct experience’; we may focus on wellbeing (‘resourcing’), self-awareness in the body, or explore memories and how they affect you in your environment now. The therapy process may have a ripple effect through the rest of your week and create change in your life – we will talk about this more in the initial session and review how you feel about the work as we go along.
Some examples of how I can help, through MBCPP include:
- Supporting you to meet emotions, thoughts and feelings, giving you a choice about how to respond to them
- Exploring when past experiences or traumas, or future worries, are getting in the way of daily life
- Encouraging self-care, well-being and mental health
- Providing a safe space to explore your identity and how you want to be present to your life
- Creating safe space to process change
You are very welcome to reach out.
